Route #1 – Cannock Chase
Stunning scenery, enchanting forests and historical towns; what more could you want? The ultimate road trip for nature lovers, the Cannock Chase route is only 30 minutes away from Birmingham city. Perfect for any city dwellers that want to escape the hustle and bustle of life for the day. Just follow the A5195, which will take you directly to this part of the countryside.
The winding road takes you through 26 miles of the Cannock, where you can take in the natural beauty of the spectacular views that await you, especially as it’s recognised as Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You’ll also come across historic towns and beautiful forests. There’s plenty to entertain and delight on this Midlands drive.

Route #2 – The Midlands Tick
At the on top of the any drivers’ countryside road-trip wish list, is the Midlands Tick. 50 miles of picturesque driving, taking you roughly an hour and half, all you need to do is head onto the M42 to get across to the starting point at Bingham. From there it’s pretty much a straight line to Market Harborough, and then to Uppingham to finish, creating a tick shape across the country – hence the route’s name.
Along the way you’ll find lovely, quaint villages and old RAF bases to contend with the scenes of the countryside, as well as experiencing the thrills of driving some winding roads. Route #3 – Shropshire to Worcester Circuit
Are you looking for views of hill ranges as far as the eye can see? And do you want to experience this all whilst driving in your car? Then you must experience the route from Shropshire to Worcester! This is sure to be an adventurous road trip as it brings you the joy of the wide-open countryside, with the exciting roads to match.
Taking you around 40 minutes from Birmingham initially as you drive along the A5, then the M54, the complete route can take up to three hours to complete. But that’s not all – make sure to include plenty of stop-offs in your plan, as you’re sure to encounter some inviting pubs, quaint teashops and some stately homes and gardens, along the way.
