Bridgend County Borough Council has launched a new graduate programme which is now open for applications.

The two-year programme starts in September and will see two graduates appointed in digital transformation and planning.

The successful candidates will gain a rounded and broad-based set of skills, experiences and attributes by undertaking placements in key areas while working with a senior manager as their mentor and gaining a Project Management Level 4 qualification.

The programme aims to attract high calibre graduates with the potential to develop into future senior managers in local government.

The role of local government in shaping the future of local communities is more important than ever so it couldn’t be a better time for us to launch our new graduate programme.

We can offer graduates the opportunity to play a key role either in our digital transformation programme, being able to implement improvements across the council, or the planning service which includes development management, transportation, regeneration and economic development.

Both roles will provide on the job training and support, and a competitive salary.

For more details on the vacancies visit bridgend.gov.uk/jobs.  The closing date for applications is 17 May.

The council also runs a successful apprenticeship scheme which currently involves 16 apprentices working across a variety of departments including finance, social care learning and development, highways, building control, business administration and social care.

Since the apprenticeship programme started in 2013, the council has successfully supported nearly 100 apprentices, many of whom have since gone on to gain employment with the local authority.

More apprentices will be appointed later this year with opportunities posted on the Bridgend County Borough Council’s job search webpage.
