Private landlords interested in leasing their properties in Bridgend County Borough are being invited to join a scheme which would see them used as temporary accommodation.

Cartrefi Hafod, which is working with Bridgend County Borough Council on the private rent leasing scheme, offers one to three year lease agreements.

Landlords are offered a guaranteed rental income for the duration of the contract, paid monthly in arrears. The scheme also includes a full management service and 24/7 repairs service.

The scheme is open to all landlords, whom have property in Wales, despite as an expat getting landlord insurance for your UK property can be hard.

Nicola Meredith, Property Acquisition Surveyor at Hafod, said: “As part of Hafod, a registered social landlord with over 50 years of experience managing, letting and maintaining properties, Cartrefi Hafod provides temporary housing solutions for homeless individuals and families referred to us by the local authority.

“When you lease your property with Cartrefi, not only will you receive benefits such as a 24/7 repairs service, there are also no set up fees or garden maintenance.

“We undertake all tenancy management functions, such as rent collection, repairs, re-lets, property inspections and where necessary we will undertake court proceedings as part of this service. We also act as a contact point for neighbours. You will not be charged for any of these as it is all part of our hassle-free service.

“As part of the scheme, landlords remain responsible for all structural and external repairs and fixtures and fittings. While they are also responsible for ensuring that the relevant gas and electrical safety checks are carried out annually, Cartrefi Hafod are able to assist with this. They can also provide quotes and contractors to undertake landlord repairs making it even easier for you.                                                                                                      Cartrefi Hafod sources properties from landlords to use as temporary accommodation in Bridgend County Borough, as well as Caerphilly, Rhondda Cynon Taf and the Vale of Glamorgan.

There continues to be a high demand for temporary accommodation in Bridgend County Borough and this scheme is about working with the private sector to help ensure that those who need a home are able to find one.

Private landlords who work with Cartrefi Hafod can help to reduce homelessness by providing a much-needed temporary home for a family or individual while they await permanent accommodation.
