Welsh streetwear retailer opens store at St David’s Cardiff

Welsh streetwear retailer The Clothing Culture has opened a brand-new store at St David’s Dewi Sant Cardiff.

The Welsh independent has launched its store in the Grand Arcade within the city shopping centre, opposite furniture and lifestyle store BoConcept.

Born in South Wales, The Clothing Culture teamed up with fellow cult Welsh retailer, The Vault Streetwear, to become Cardiff’s first-ever dedicated streetwear retailer. The store sells menswear from designer brands at affordable prices from the likes of Alpha Industries, Weekend Offender and Mercier. Over 5,500 sq ft, the St David’s store is also home to a dedicated ‘re-sell’ department for exclusive and rare American sneakers and streetwear, picking up on a rapidly–growing market with Jordans, Yeezys, Travis Scott, Supreme and more.

The new store is the brand’s third in South Wales with existing stores in Cardiff and Swansea. It features a basketball hoop on the wall to give customers a chance to ‘shoot for a discount’ as well as an old-school arcade games machine.

The Clothing Culture is one of a line-up of independent stores amongst the high street giants and designer names at St David’s and itself supports new, upcoming brands.

Matthew Read, Co-Founder of The Clothing Culture, commented: “Our roots are in South Wales so naturally it’s a great for us to become part of St David’s in Cardiff. We take pride in supporting emerging brands and work hard to give them a chance in our stores. Our main aim is to give our customers the opportunity to buy things they can’t typically find elsewhere, be it an exclusive new release or a re-sell of a rare product, so we are definitely adding a new dimension to St David’s.”

James Waugh, Centre Director of St David’s Cardiff, said: “Visitors to St David’s have seen a host of new stores opening over the last few months from Zara’s flagship to global beauty brand Morphe. But what makes St David’s unique is that as well as the familiar names we all know and love to shop in, are a line-up of Welsh independents. We are proud to support Welsh businesses by introducing home-grown retailers such as The Clothing Culture, helping us to give our shoppers an experience like no other.”
