Multi platinum selling indie pop band Bastille made a welcome return to Cardiff Castle on Friday night, delivering a headline performance packed with fan favourites as part of TK Maxx presents Depot Live.

The four piece, fronted by Dan Smith alongside Kyle Simmons, Will Farquarson and Chris “Woody” Wood, returned to the historic venue after previously performing there in 2023. They were greeted by a warm reception from fans under sunny summer skies.

Drawing on material from across their 16 year career, Bastille opened the set with Things We Lost In The Fire before treating the Cardiff crowd to hits including Good Grief, Flaws and their hugely popular mash up cover Of The Night.

The evening reached its climax with Pompeii, the band’s era defining anthem, which closed the show to a huge response from the audience.

Joining Bastille as special guest was soulful singer songwriter Arthur Hill, who embraced the Welsh setting by wearing a T shirt paying tribute to Sir Tom Jones.

Rising Portuguese Canadian artist Sofia Camara opened the evening’s entertainment.
The concert formed part of the biggest ever TK Maxx presents Depot Live at Cardiff Castle series, which this year features a record 24 headline shows from some of the world’s best known artists.
The summer programme continues tonight (Saturday) with David Gray taking to the stage, before further performances from Richard Ashcroft, Self Esteem, The Wombats, David Byrne, Biffy Clyro, The Streets, Sex Pistols, Two Door Cinema Club, Hollywood Vampires and Jimmy Eat World in the weeks ahead.
