A host of junior rugby teams playing for Cambrian Coltz RFC are starting this season in style after local energy company, Pennant Walters, has stepped in to sponsor them.

As part of the sponsorship deal, the Club’s under 7, 8, 9 and 12 teams have all received a brand new kit which now sports the Pennant Walters logo.

The Club, which plays at Cambrian Welfare RFC, has an extensive mini and junior set up with over 200 youngsters aged 5 to 15 from across the Rhondda Valleys training and playing for the team.Cambrian Coltz RFC, Secretary, Steve Picton, is delighted that Pennant Wales has lent its support. He said:

“As a Club we try and keep costs for the players families to a minimum, so this sponsorship is very welcome across the Club and our local community.

“With children playing week in, week out, kit can quickly look tired, and we had already stretched their longevity by handing previous kit down for a few years. The sponsorship is fantastic, and we are delighted that Pennant Walters has got behind so many of our young sides.

“Wearing new kit has given our teams a great boost for the season ahead and we look forward to doing Pennant Walters proud in all our games.”

The sponsorship provided by Pennant Walters is from a fund linked to two wind farms in the Gilfach Goch and Blackmill areas, Pant y Wal in the county of Bridgend, and Fforch Nest, which straddles the border of Bridgend and Rhondda Cynon Taf. The two sites have a total of 21 turbines producing 53 megawatts of clean electricity – enough to power the equivalent of 25,000 homes. It builds on previous donations which have seen the company provide

Pennant Walters managing director, Dale Hart, said:

“We are committed to supporting the communities close to our projects and are delighted to sponsor the four young teams at Cambrian Coltz.

“Our wind energy project community funds exist to make a difference to the local communities in which we work, and we wish the Club the best of luck in the future and look forward to following their success.”
