Packaged Living, an experienced investor, developer and operator of privately rented homes has launched plans to develop approximately 331 high-quality, private homes to rent on Trade Street.
As part of the current proposals, Suffolk House would be demolished and redeveloped to provide a range of one, two and three-bedroom, privately rented affordable homes for key workers and those on average and below-average salaries. An active ground floor element with commercial space will be included, to support local independent businesses and provide space for pop up community events.

Trade Street Gardens will not only provide much needed rental accommodation for Cardiff, it also provides a valuable contribution to the wider regeneration planned for this part of the city.”
Suffolk House, a former light industrial warehouse, office and staff accommodation, lies adjacent to the proposed Embankment regeneration development. Redeveloping the site creates a gateway into the proposed Embankment development and will be a prominent building on Trade Street, as well as opening up a walkway down to Cardiff Bay along the river edge.
When discussing how sustainability has been integrated into the proposals, Sophie notes “we are committed to creating a sustainable development at Trade Street Gardens through minimising embodied and operational carbon emissions as well as creating a variety of landscaped areas that promote biodiversity The site occupies a highly accessible and sustainable location, allowing us to support a move away from car ownership and focus on bike storage provision and electric car/car club initiatives.”
She goes on to say that “the health and well-being of our residents is also hugely important and our proposals include shared amenity space, including lounge areas, games rooms, co-working space, courtyards and roof terraces.”
