Businesses keen on Swansea beach front attraction

There has been an exciting level of interest from businesses keen to take on a beach front tourist destination in Swansea.

Swansea Council has already received more than a dozen inquiries from people wanting to find out more about the opportunity at the former 360 Centre even though it has yet to be advertised.

The current tenant Bay Sports Ltd has decided to leave the premises on the seafront near St Helen’s rugby and cricket ground at the end of the summer.

The search for a new tenant is underway and the council is appointing agents to market the venue in the commercial press.

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Cabinet Member for Innovation, Regeneration and Tourism, said:

“I’m not in the least bit surprised that this opportunity is already generating a lot of excitement from potential tenants.

“I would again like to thank Bay Sports Ltd for the job they have done in establishing the 360 Centre as a popular attraction on the prom. It is a shame that they have decided to leave but their decision gives us an opportunity to look again at the centre. I’m confident that a new tenant will build on this and even improve the offering.”

Bay Sports Ltd will continue to run the centre until the tenancy ends on September 30.

    Cllr Francis-Davies added:

“There is a process to follow and we as a public body have to formally advertise the site, but we are determined to have the best possible tenant in place as soon as possible.

“The number of people visiting Swansea continues to increase and recent figures show tourism was worth £417.85m to our area last year which was an increase of 1.7% on 2016.

“I’m absolutely certain the building and any new use will continue to be a destination enjoyed by residents and visitors for many years to come.”
