Nominations open for Bridgend Mayor’s Citizenship Awards

Do you know someone who regularly goes the extra mile for others, is an outstanding charity fundraiser, or has put the local area on the map by achieving something special over the past 18 months?

As the year comes to a close, the Mayor of Bridgend County Borough is asking local residents to put forward their nominations of individuals, groups or businesses who are worthy of a Mayor’s Citizenship Award.

Past winners have included a nine-year-old who fundraised to help koalas in the Australian wildfires, a man who wheeled four marathons and six half marathons after being diagnosed with a brain tumour and a young carer who worked hard to raise awareness of young carers not only in his school but also in the wider community and across Wales.

I am thrilled to announce that the Mayor’s Citizenship Awards are returning after they were cancelled by the pandemic last year.

I am sure after the 18 months we’ve had that we will have some truly wonderful nominees who have helped make a difference to people’s lives during this most difficult time.

I am very much looking forward to recognising these unsung heroes who deserve a special thank you, so please get your nominations in as soon as possible.

Mayor of Bridgend County Borough, Councillor John Spanswick

Organised by Bridgend County Borough Council, the awards are open to people who live in the county borough, as well as local groups and businesses based locally. Nominations open on Monday 8 November, 2021 and close on Friday 7 January, 2022.
