One of Wales’ leading mass participation race organisers, Front Runner Events are delighted to announce that they will take over the Cardiff 10k and 2K fun run that will take place on September 4, 2022. The event which was founded in 1985 by Kidney Wales remains to be Wales’ largest 10k road race. It is also one of the UK’s top 5 10K’s and a favourite amongst athletes of all abilities.

The team at Front Runner Events have a long-standing partnership with Kidney Wales who will remain as the headline charity partner for the event. David Martin-Jewell, managing director at Front Runner Events said:

“We are very excited and extremely proud that we are to be able to add the Cardiff 10K to our portfolio of events. It is a race we know very well as we have been the event delivery team on behalf of Kidney Wales for several years. Kidney Wales as a charity will remain involved but this will allow them to focus all their efforts on fundraising and their other great charity work.

“We will continue to provide an excellent running experience for all our runners as we aim to build on the great heritage of the Cardiff 10K. We look forward to delivering an exceptional race for 2022 whilst keeping the foundations that has helped it grow into Wales’ biggest 10k road race.”

Ross Evans, managing director of Kidney Wales said:

“We are so proud of how the Cardiff Metropolitan University Cardiff 10K & 2K fun run has developed into one of Wales’ most loved road races and extremely grateful to everyone who has helped us since it first began. Following the difficult 18 months we have all experienced, this period has reinforced the core aspects of the charity and how important it is for us to make the most impact with the little resource we have available.

“To help Kidney Wales continue to provide support to our Kidney community here in Wales throughout this pandemic and beyond, we are pleased to be passing the reins to our trusted event delivery partner Front Runner Events, who will take over the stewardship of the event in its entirety.  We are excited that we will continue to be involved with the event as platinum charity partners and are very much looking forward to seeing our fantastic running community returning to the capital next year for what will be a race to remember.”

If you have deferred your Cardiff 10K place because of the pandemic, Front Runner Events have said that these places will be honoured and carry over to the 2022 event date.

Front Runner Events are the largest family-owned running event company based in Wales. They organise a series of other successful events including the JCP Swansea Half Marathon, Llanelli Half Marathon and Great Welsh Marathon.
