Works to refurbish and extend the fitness suite at Builth Sport Centre are now complete.

This project has been delivered in partnership between Powys County Council (PCC) and Freedom Leisure Powys.  As part of the works, the weight training room has been extended significantly to create a bespoke and functional strength area. This will be a welcome addition to Builth and accommodate the centre’s growing number of members and customers. The existing fitness equipment has been replaced with new, fully accessible state-of-the-art Technogym equipment. And to compliment all of this improvements to the flooring, ceiling and lighting have also been completed to create a quality facility for all to exercise in.

Cllr Rachel Powell, Powys County Council’s Cabinet Member for Young People, Culture and Leisure, said:

“This is great news for Builth Wells and the surrounding areas. In a time where we can appreciate how keeping ‘well’ means so much to our physical and mental wellbeing, this facility will hopefully encourage more people, of all ages, to join and utilise. By initiating steps to achieve a more positive health status, this will absolutely reduce further ill-health and medical need, which fulfils both Health and Public Health preventative priorities. I am looking forward to hearing positive reactions from our residents and thank our partners Freedom Leisure for working with us to improve this facility.’

Gwyn Owen, Area Manager, Freedom Leisure Powys added:

“The new gym at Builth is truly a great facility. We must all take time to invest in our personal health and wellbeing and these new exercise facilities certainly provide everyone with that opportunity. The partnership between us and Powys County Council continues to deliver for Powys residents and for Powys communities to remain as active and healthy as possible”
