Denbighshire County Council has received an award for its support of the armed forces community.
At a full council meeting on Tuesday (February 22) Air Commodore Adrian Williams OBE who is the highest ranking RAF Officer in Wales, and Tony Fish, Regional Employer Engagement Director (North) presented Chairman Cllr Alan James with the Silver Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Award.
The Council is one of 24 Welsh organisations and private sector employers to have received a Defence ERS Silver Award in 2021 from the Ministry of Defence.
The ERS encourages employers to support defence and is open to employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
Denbighshire County Council signed the Armed Forced Covenant in 2019.
Cllr Alan James, chair of Denbighshire County Council, said: “We are really pleased to receive this award in recognition of our support of the contribution made by all those who serve in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. We have been able to ensure that service personnel and members of the Armed Forces community are supported within the Council.”
Cllr Richard Mainon, the council’s Armed Forces champion, added: “Supporting the armed forces community is so important for the work they do and we are delighted to receive this recognition that highlights the support the Council is providing.”
