Refurbishment of Bridgend CCTV system gets underway

A refurbishment of the CCTV system covering Bridgend County Borough is underway, with Bridgend town centre being the first area to receive the upgrade.

Whilst there have been some delays due to hardware shortages caused by the current global supply chain problem, the new cameras will start to be installed in Bridgend Town Centre at the beginning of May with the planned rollout to other parts of the borough aiming to be completed by early September.

All planning and survey work for the camera installations has been completed and the CCTV monitoring centre has been fitted with the latest technology, including Operator workstations, monitor screens and cameras. To safeguard against power cuts and maintain a continuous service, the CCTV monitoring centre is currently being fitted with an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS).

The new CCTV upgrade will bring the system right up to date with current technology and provide a superior service for the residents and businesses of Bridgend.

Obtaining the requisite hardware and component parts from around the world has proved challenging due to the global supply chain issue, but we are confident that the new system will be worth all the extra effort.

As technology is constantly changing, we do need to stay up to date with our CCTV system. This upgrade will ensure the continued safety and security of the residents of Bridgend County Borough.

Martin Morgans, Head of Partnership Services
