A fabulous evening of live music was enjoyed by many hundreds of people recently in the grounds of Scolton Manor.

‘Music at the Manor’ featured outstanding performances from nearly 100 talented young musicians who play in the County String Orchestra, Wind Band and Young Voices.

Organised by Pembrokeshire County Council’s music service and sponsored by Valero, the concert also included performances by Goodwick Community Brass Band, Cleddau Orchestra and the Community Choir.

Compere for the evening David Haynes, Headteacher at Greenhill school, thanked all performers, in particular the pupils who will be leaving to move on to pastures new in September.

The final item of the evening was a Pembrokeshire Music Service staff band joined by Young Voices, several secondary music teachers and the community choir to perform ‘Sweet Caroline’ and ‘We are the Champions’ – which had fantastic audience participation!

The music service would like to thank everyone involved who contributed to the event by making the evening a memorable experience for the performers and audience.

“We are grateful to so many people for helping to make the evening such a success,” said Philippa Roberts from the Pembrokeshire Music Service.

“In particular we’d like to thank Valero for their continued support, and to their volunteers who supported the event by erecting marquees and parking cars.

“Thank you to the Friends of Pembrokeshire Young Musicians who supported the evening and provided festival face paint for the performers and staff!

“We’re very grateful to Scolton Manor for helping us to organise the event, to Norman Industries for providing food and refreshments, and Pure West Radio for supporting and recording the evening.

“Last but not least, thank you to the amazing performers and the superb audience for creating such a fantastic evening which will live long in our memories.”
