If you missed out on the chance to enter the sold-out ABP Newport Marathon taking place at the end of April, all is not lost. Cancer Research Wales still have free spaces available, so you can dust the snow off your trainers and start making paces, all in the name of a good cause!

The ABP Newport Marathon and 10K run is being held for the first time this year, on Sunday 29th April and the Welsh cancer charity still has spaces available for runners.

The course is one of the UK’s flattest and fastest race routes and promises to offer a brand-new running experience to the 6000 runners who will descend upon Newport for the race. Runners will start and finish at Newport’s revamped city centre and riverfront, after racing through medieval Redwick, whizzing past coastal wildlife at Whitson and Goldcliff, and treading past the iconic Transporter Bridge.

Cancer Research Wales Fundraising Manager, Katie Killoran said: “The ABP Newport Marathon may be sold out, but that doesn’t mean that you have to miss out on running an extremely exciting and picturesque route for Newport’s first marathon. We still have places available and are currently looking for keen runners to join us on the big day and to raise as much money as possible to help us in the fight against cancer.

“Entry is free, and all funds raised will go directly to support ground-breaking research taking place right here in Wales. We invite you to sign up and start fundraising today to run the many miles that will make a world of difference for Cancer Research Wales.”

After signing up, you will receive a fundraising pack and a free running vest. Marathon runners need to raise a minimum of £250 and 10K race runners must raise at least £150 for the charity.
