    Hendre Junior School become the first in Caerphilly to receive the Cymraeg Campus Award

    Hendre Junior School have received The Arian/Silver Award for Cymraeg Campus for its hard work and dedication in promoting the Welsh Language and Welsh ethos.

    Cymraeg Campus is a Language Charter that is used to promote the use of the Welsh language throughout the school, across the Curriculum and in all area of school life.

    Hendre Junior School have been working towards their Arian/Silver Award since receiving their Cymraeg Campus Gwobr Award in 2018. To help achieve their success, the school worked hard throughout home learning to keep their love for the Welsh language alive.

    The school’s ‘Criw Cymraeg’ have been the language leaders, leading by example throughout the whole school. They have been fully invested in working towards the award. They have shared progress towards the targets with the children, staff, parents, governors and wider community.

    A number of ‘Criw Cymraeg’ students commented, “We are so proud of our school” “We are the first Criw Cymraeg to get the Arian Award” “All of our hard work has paid off”.

    Cllr Carol Andrews, Cabinet Member for Education commented, “This is a fantastic achievement for the school; everyone involved should be extremely proud of their success.

    “It’s wonderful to see the pupils so enthusiastic and passionate about the Welsh language. The school as a whole has set a great example to others and I would encourage other schools to work towards gaining a Cymraeg Campus Award.”
