Cardiff Bus is advising customers of changes to bus stop arrangements on Saturday 27th August as the Pride Cymru parade returns to Cardiff city centre.
Between 10:30 and 14:00 some city centre roads will close and as a result bus routes and stops will be revised. Bus stops within Grangetown will also be affected as buses will not be able to enter and exit the city centre via their usual route.
Routes 1, 2, 5, 6 baycar, 7, 99 and X45 will start and end at Callaghan Square North-side (outside Eversheds). Between Penarth Road / Clare Road and Callaghan Square routes 7 and X45 will run directly via Penarth Road in both directions and will not serve Clare Road or travel via Wood Street.
Routes 8 & 9 towards UHW Heath Hospital will follow their normal route to Penarth Road / Clare Road then divert via Penarth Road and Callaghan Square to Bute Terrace before continuing along its normal route towards Churchill Way and the hospital. Journeys towards Cardiff Bay / the Sports Village will follow their normal route to Bute Terrace and will then divert via Bute Street underpass, Callaghan Square and Penarth Road to its junction with Clare Road. Routes 8 & 9 will not serve Clare Road or Wood Street during this time.
Routes 11, 44, 45, 49, 50, 52, 57 and 58 will start and end at Churchill Way and will not serve any other city centre bus stops.
Routes 21, 23, 24, 27, 28, 28A, 30 and 35 will start and end on Greyfriars Road.
Route 96 journeys from Cardiff towards Barry will start from Wood Street JR (outside BBC Wales HQ).
Routes 13, 15, 17, 18, 25, 32, 51, 53, 61, 62, 63, 64, 66, 92, 94, 95 and X59 will not be affected.
The bus operator will also be joining the parade with its dedicated Pride bus. Gareth Stevens, Commercial Director at Cardiff Bus, says “The weekend’s parade will take part on the Saturday and we’ll be joining in by driving our Pride bus along the route. Keep an eye out for our brightly coloured bus adorned with hearts. We’ll be updating bus stop information in advance and, as ever, our website and app will also reflect the changes. Both website and app allow for real time journey planning and live bus tracking and exclusively priced tickets are also available on our app”.
Mr Stevens continued, “We have a frequent network across the city so people looking to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of the event are encouraged to catch a bus. We have a £10 group ticket for all day travel across the city for up to five people which you can buy from your driver on the first bus you board or via our app”.
