In just over a week, the Newport Food Festival is returning to the streets of Newport for the first time since 2019.

Over fifty stall holders have already been confirmed for the Festival, which returns on Saturday 8 October after a covid-enforced absence.

Returning alongside the stall holders are the popular chef demonstrations. Local chefs will be displaying their culinary wares in the chef demo zone in Newport Market. The chef demo zone is sponsored by Newport NOW, Newport’s business improvement district.

Among the chefs that will be appearing in the chef demo zone is Hywel Jones, patron of the festival and executive head chef at Restaurant Hywel Jones, at the Lucknam Park Hotel and Spa.

Other confirmed chefs include: Anil Karhadkar, head chef at city centre restaurant Curry on the Curve; James Davies, head chef at Horton’s Coffee House; Steve White, head chef at the Mercure Hotel; Dave Roberts and James Westlake from Rafters at the Celtic Manor; and Ben Periam from The Pod.

There will also be lots of roaming street entertainment during the Festival, courtesy of the Hungry Chefs, the Giant Seagulls- and the Tea Cosies, as well as arts and craft, balloon modelling courtesy of Magic Chef, and music courtesy of Newport City Radio, the Gwent Music Community Band and the Gwent Music Community Choir.
