With the first round of the FIM Supercross Championships taking place at Principality Stadium on October 8th, from 2pm,Westgate Street,Wood Street and Lower St Mary Street will be closed to motor vehicles, with Wood Street re-opening at 10pm, but Lower St Mary Street remaining closed for the night-time economy.
Road closures
With the gates of the Principality Stadium opening at 3.30pm for the event and the event scheduled to finish at 9pm, Westgate Street, Wood Street, St Mary Street, Tudor Street and Despenser Street (allowing access only) will be closed in its entirety between 2pm and 10pm.
Access to the Civic Centre will be controlled throughout the day, with access allowed only for event parking; limited commuter parking, loading and access to private car parks.
Roads affected include King Edward VII Avenue, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road and Gorsedd Gardens Road.
Trains
Saturday 8 October – very limited rail service, do not travel by train
The majority of Transport for Wales (TfW) services across the Wales and Borders network will be suspended on October 8thdue to the on-going national industrial action.
TfW is not involved in this industrial action, but as a result of the dispute between unions and Network Rail, TfW will be unable to operate a number of rail services on Network Rail infrastructure.
The only services operating will be on the Core Valley Lines in South Wales and a Cardiff to Newport shuttle, with one train operating hourly in each direction, between 07:30 and 18:30.
No other TfW services across Wales and the Borders network will be able to operate.
Train services will operate between Cardiff Central and Rhymney, Treherbert, Aberdare and Merthyr Tydfil in an hourly service in each direction between 07:30 and 18:30.
Customers are reminded there will be very limited road transport capacity between Radyr and Cardiff before 07:30 and after 18:30, when TfW is unable to operate trains via Llandaf and Cathays.

Civic Centre Event Day Parking
Getting there: Exit Junction 32 of the M4, head south on the A470 towards the city centre and follow signage to the civic centre.
Cost: £15 payable on the day at the car park – card payments are also now available.
Parking time: The car park will open at 8am and closes at 12 Midnight.

Event Park & Ride
The event park and ride facility for these events will be at County Hall car Park in Cardiff Bay, with the drop off and pick up at Callaghan Square.
The facility is easily accessible via the M4, leaving at junction 33, and travelling down the link road (A4232).
Buses will be running to and from the city centre every 10 minutes. Cost: £10 payable on the day – card payments are now available.
The car park opens at 9.00am and the first bus will leave at 9.10am. The last bus from the city centre will be at 10pm and the car park will close at 10.30pm.

Can you cycle or walk?
Those who live locally in Cardiff may want to travel by bicycle or walk. Research shows us that 52% of car trips made in the Welsh capital are less than 5km. This is a distance that can be comfortably cycled in 20 minutes.
We also know that 28% of Cardiff residents who currently do not cycle would like to do so.
When the roads are congested this makes cycling an even more attractive option as travel by bicycle would be quicker than a car during rush hours or during big events.
Shopping Parking
Shoppers are advised to make use of the dedicated Shopping Park & Ride sites at Pentwyn or County Hall. Or city centre car parks are also available: North Road Car Parks, St David’s Shopping Centre, John Lewis, Capitol Shopping Centre, and NCP (Adam Street, Dumfries Place and Greyfriars Road.)
Disabled parking
Disabled drivers are advised to use Sophia Gardens. Disabled parking is also available at various private car parks.
