    Swansea Sports Awards are back after three-year break

    It comes after a three-year break – and the awards event is due to take place in the grand surroundings of the Brangwyn Hall.

    Council cabinet member Robert Francis-Davies said: “Swansea has a proud tradition of producing great sports people.

    “It takes dedication, determination and much hard work to maintain high standards and, as a city of sport, we want to honour such skills and endeavour.”

    Swansea is a city full of sporting champions.

    They range from volunteers and coaches who put in hundreds of hours behind the scenes to successful teams and committed individuals who achieve the most in their sport.

    Cllr Francis-Davies said: “We’re pleased to be able to celebrate our champions for the first time since 2020.

    “Our athletes have worked hard this year and we look forward to recognising and honouring their achievements and outstanding contributions to sport through the Swansea Sports Awards.”

    The event will recognise individuals, teams and clubs across 13 categories, with awards that will includeinspiring young person, volunteer, community coach and performance coach.

    Other categories include junior sportsman, junior sportswoman, school team, junior club or team and senior club or team.

    Awards will also be presented for getting Swansea active and to the sportsperson of the year with a disability and to the sportsperson of the year.

    The Swansea Sports Awards ceremony will take place from 7pm on March 30 at the Brangwyn Hall in association with Freedom Leisure.
