Swansea’s hugely successful Pop-Up Employment Hub has moved to a new location in the Quadrant Shopping Centre but is still providing people with all the support they need.

Since it launched at the start of the summer the hub, run by the council’s employability service Swansea Working, has made a real difference to many people’s lives.

It has staged 23 recruitment events for various businesses and organisations and has supported more than 800 people, including 50 Ukrainian nationals who have fled the war at home.

More than 200 people have had job offers thanks to the work of the team.

The hub originally opened in an empty unit opposite the HMV store but has now moved to the other side of the shopping centre near the entrance to the bus station.

There are arrange of services based at the hub and other partners include Communities for Work Plus, Young Persons Guarantee, Careers Wales, Welfare Rights, Workways+, Elite Supported Employment, the African Community Centre and Business Wales.

Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Well-Being, Alyson Pugh, said: “Initially the pop-up was a six month scheme but it’s proved so successful that I’m delighted we’ve been able to find a new home and it will continue into 2023.

“Swansea Working offers a huge range of services that include personalised employment action plans, tailored training packages, CV development, help with interview skills and support with job applications, work experience, placements, apprenticeships, job opportunities and in-work support.

“The council is committed to supporting all our residents into work and training and in assisting them to develop to their full potential.

“I would urge anyone who is looking for work, considering training or who has ambition for a better job to call in and see the team.

“They are a friendly and professional and totally committed to working with people of all ages to support them to achieve their goals.”
