Popular Bridgend pub Hunters Lodge has reopened after a game-changing refurbishment to ensure it offers the very best in hospitality, dining, and live sport to customers.

The pub was closed for a month so it could be upgraded and redesigned inside and out.

Work includes incorporating a new sports bar in part of the venue so customers can enjoy all the best action on Sky Sports and BT Sport, as well as major events such as the Six Nations and the FIFA World Cup.

General Manager Dave Whelan is from Ireland and enjoys creating a great atmosphere for sporting events.

He said: “Being where we are here in Wales we have a lot of rugby fans so the Six Nations and the Rugby World Cup next year will be great for us. As an Irishman I’m really enjoying the rugby, especially as we’re on top at the moment.”

Customers can also catch the action outside with the addition of three-heated booths complete with TV screens. The garden is a major feature at the pub and can cater for around 300 diners at a time.

New menus have also been introduced and are going down a storm, helping the pub to enjoy some of the busiest days in the nine years that Dave has been at the helm.

He said: “We have good local trade but we are also a popular destination venue with people driving to us for our food. We do very well with our dining which is in a separate part of the pub to the sports bar. The new menu has been a real hit and everything on it is proving popular.

“The design of the pub is absolutely fantastic and has a real wow factor. It has been completely modernised but it still feels like a warm and friendly pub with a great atmosphere. We look forward to welcoming even more people through the doors.”

The pub is part of the award-winning Stonegate Pub Company. It invested over £300,000 in Hunters Lodge so it can bring the best in hospitality to Bridgend and beyond.

It reopened with a launch party featuring live music, and further events with live entertainment planned for the new year.

The drinks menu has been extended so customers can enjoy cask ale, chilled lager, pitchers of cocktails and explore different wines and spirits.
