Mermaid Quay is gearing up for a busy February Half Term with a week jampacked full of space themed fun for the entire family to enjoy.

The top leisure destination is taking the pressure off parents during the school break and helping to keep kids entertained with a host of fun activities.

Families will be able to take part in a space trail where they will search for 8 space themed posters which are positioned in windows throughout Mermaid Quay, each with a unique fact. By finding them all and entering the trail competition families could be in with a chance of winning a £50 voucher for a delicious meal at Hub Box Mermaid Quay.

A colouring in competition will be also be running for the week where families will be in with the chance of winning one of two £10 gift cards for a sweet treat in Cadwaladers.

On Thursday 23rd February Mermaid Quay Space Club will launch and your little astronauts will be able to come along from 12pm to 4pm to explore the planets with interactive games, space walking and stories. They will also be able to enjoy free face painting and take part in a craft session where they will make their very own rocket.

The next event will take place on Friday 24th February, from 12pm to 4pm they will explore the galaxy with the Mermaid Quay astronauts to learn about stars. They will also receive free face painting and take part in a craft session where they can make slime to take home.

The final event will take place on Saturday 25th February where from 12pm to 4pm there will be an Alien Invasion! Kids will join the Mermaid Quay astronauts as they go on an alien investigative adventure before getting their faces painted for free and taking part in a craft session where they can make an alien egg character.

Each day children will also have the opportunity to dress up in space suits and have the chance to use a VR headset for a space adventure.

There’s also a free meal at Pizza Express Cardiff Bay up for grabs by taking a picture at one of the events and entering in to the ‘Snap a selfie’ competition.

Becky Jones, Marketing Manager at Mermaid Quay said: “We are delighted to be able to host a week full of space themed fun this February half term. We know it can be difficult to keep the kids entertained during school holidays so we hope our events will take the pressure off parents and allow children to have lots of fun whilst learning all about space – and don’t forget to enter our competitions as there’s lots of great prizes up for grabs for the entire family to enjoy!”
