On 01 March, the flag will fly and many activities will be held to celebrate St David’s Day in Ceredigion.

St David’s Day is a special day when we celebrate Wales, our people, our language together and the unique culture that belongs to us all. Ceredigion County Council marks the day with a variety of activities to enjoy and to encourage participation.

The Council plans to celebrate St David’s day in a very special way this year. We held a drawing competition, to create a corporate backdrop for St David’s Day. To celebrate the day we will be running a virtual quiz on the Teams platform, inviting all members of staff to join in the fun, be they Welsh speakers, shy speakers, learners or non-Welsh speakers.

On this day, we remember our Patron Saint Dewi and his message to do the little things. Watch our ‘Do the little things in Welsh’ video.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Bryan Davies, said: “St David’s Day is for everyone who loves Wales and wants to see Wales thrive, whatever their background. Welshness means different things to different people. However, as a county steeped in Welsh tradition and culture, as well as linguistic vitality, this is the ideal time for the Council to celebrate and to be proud of our heritage. Gwisg genhinen yn dy gap, a gwisg hi yn dy galon which means Wear a leek in your cap, and wear it in your heart!”

Remember to join the St David’s Day parade which are organised throughout the county. Will you be taking part in a St David’s Day Parade in your nearest town?
