New Ageing Well choir is already hitting the high notes in Swansea

A new choir that has been formed to get older people out of the house and to socialise is already hitting the high notes.

Although it only launched this year, the Ageing Well Choir is already attracting more than 50 singers when it meets at the Swansea Arena every other Wednesday afternoon.

It has been set-up by Swansea Council’s partnership and involvement team and is one of a packed programme of activities run to combat isolation and loneliness.

People can sign-up for a newsletter that gives them a weekly update of all that is going on by visiting:  https://www.swansea.gov.uk/ageingwellemail

Swansea Council Cabinet Member for Community Support, Hayley Gwilliam, said: “I’m thrilled that the Aging Well Choir is already proving to be popular and it’s yet another example of how our ageing well team are developing creative and affordable opportunities for people to come together.

“People don’t need to have great voices or to commit to regularly attend – it’s just an opportunity to come together to socialise and enjoy singing.

“I’d like to thank the team at Swansea Arena for working with us and making this great venue available to the choir.

“If you’ve not signed up to the newsletter I’d encourage you do so to keep up to date with all the fantastic opportunities on offer.”
