Parkdean Resorts, the UK’s largest holiday park operator with 66 parks across the UK, has recently seen 24 team members complete their monthly RLSS (Royal Life Saving Society) lifeguard training ahead of the new season.

The holiday park operator employs 300 lifeguards at its parks nationwide, and teams are required to complete monthly ongoing training along with a full renewal assessment every two years. The most recent session at Trecco Bay Holiday Park, in Porthcawl, led by Training Lead Kieran Walker, recapped important water-related safety and first aid methods including spinal rescue, CPR and secondary surveys. Since the last monthly session was completed, three newly qualified lifeguards have also joined the team.

All lifeguards at Parkdean Resorts are required to undertake continuous training to ensure the safety of guests, including in customer care, health and safety, pool plant and lifesaving skills. Lifeguards must also take responsibility for first aid, carrying out water and chemical tests, and assisting guests with their needs and any emergencies.

Lisa Charles-Jones, HR Director, Parkdean Resorts, said: “Keeping our guests safe when they holiday with us is our number one priority, so ensuring our lifeguards are constantly reviewing their training is essential, and we know they take their roles extremely seriously. The average age of our lifeguard team at Trecco Bay is 20 years and this is a fantastic role for young people to take on, allowing them to gain essential skills in safety and lifesaving.  We’re looking forward to welcoming all our guests throughout the new season, and they can be confident that our lifeguards are fully-equipped to take care of them.”

Earlier this year, Parkdean Resorts announced a recruitment drive ahead of the new season, and is recruiting 11,000 people in total, with other 10,000 seasonal and 750 permanent roles on offer at its 66 parks across the UK. The holiday park operator also recently announced a new partnership with youth charity, The Prince’s Trust, which will see the two parties work together to empower and support young people seeking employment, through a number of fundraising initiatives and development opportunities.
