The council’s Employability Bridgend team are organising a ‘Positive Pathways, Festival of Wellbeing’ event on Thursday 29 June at the Bowls Hall, Bridgend Halo Life Centre.

The event is part of Employability Bridgend’s re-launch following a change to funders. Through Welsh Government’s Communities for Work+ funding and UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, the Employability Bridgend team is able to support wellbeing as part of the employability journey, a vital step before people access training or work.

The free event, which is open to all, will take place from 11am until 3pm, with wellbeing talks, crafts, aromatherapy, yoga, beauty treatments, bounce and rhyme, rickshaw rides and a coffee van with free coffee, plus lots more!

A full timetable of wellbeing talks can be found below:

    Time Activity Gazebo
    11:15 – 11:45 Mind 1
    11:15 – 11:45 Bounce and Rhyme 3
    11:30 – 12:00 Lads and Dads 2
    12:00 – 12:30 St Giles Trust 1
    12:00 – 12:30 Menshed 3
    12:15 – 12:45 Case UK 2
    12:45 – 13:15 Mind 1
    12:45 – 13:15 Lads and Dads 3
    13:00 – 13:30 St Giles Trust 2
    13:30 – 14:00 Case UK 1
    13:30 – 14:00 Menshed 3

The event brings together a wide range of organisations offering activities, advice and support including the more traditional wellbeing activities, such as mindfulness but also include gaming, knit and natter groups, crafts, walking, hair and beauty tasters, fitness, and yoga.

I’m pleased to see Employability Bridgend addressing wellbeing as an integral part of the work they do to support people in Bridgend County Borough.

Wellbeing is an essential first step on the employability journey.

By creating connections between participants and local support, advice and community groups, participants have the chance to build their confidence and general wellbeing, to be in a better position to access the training and support they need to succeed.

Councillor Neelo Farr, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Wellbeing
