The 4* country house hotel and spa Tre-Ysgawen Hall has been sold to property development company K2RE for an undisclosed sum.

The 30-bedroom hotel in Capel Coch, Llangefni on the Isle of Anglesey also includes a gym, swimming pool, spa bath, thermal suite and six beauty treatment rooms as well as conferencing and banqueting space for up to 200 people and has been under the same ownership and management company for over 27 years. Commercial real estate firm Colliers has handled the sale.

K2RE plans to invest in the characterful property. Tre-Ysgawen Hall was originally built as a luxurious family home back in 1882, and very much later relaunched as a hotel and then further enhanced with the spa offering back in 2002. The hotel and spa cater for both local clientele and as a tourist destination for international and domestic travellers.

Takir Mirza from K2RE said: “This is the first hotel that we’ve purchased, and we have ambitious plans for it. It’s got a great foundation and lovely views and with a bit of tender loving care we hope to revitalise it and welcome new and past guests to its beautiful halls.”

Neil Rowlands from Tre-Ysgawen Hall speaking on behalf of the owner and his family said: “We have been fortunate enough to be custodians of Tre-Ysgawen Hall for the past 27 years, it’s now Mr Mirza’s opportunity to add a further chapter to the history of the Hall. Tre-Ysgawen Hall over the years has created many fond memories for so many people, from local clients visiting for meals and using the spa, visitors to the island staying overnight, and many attending the various parties, functions and weddings that we have hosted over the years.

“None of this would have been possible had it not been for the tremendous support we have received from the local people of Anglesey and the wider communities of North Wales and beyond. The addition of the spa complex in 2002 and significant further investment in bedrooms and conferencing and banqueting facilities at the time was very significant in the future of the hall.”

As well as great facilities at the hotel it also benefits from attractive beaches nearby and challenging 18-hole golf courses.

Neil Thomson from Colliers Hotel Agency team commented: “Tre-Ysgawen Hall is a unique property and we’re looking forward to seeing K2RE’s plans come to fruition. North Wales is a popular tourist destination which welcomes thousands of visitors every year to its beautiful coastlines and scenic viewpoints across the mountains. Despite challenging economic factors this sale highlights that for the right property in the right locations there’s still plenty of interest in the hospitality sector from a wide range of investors.”
