A cyclist who died in a road traffic collision which happened on Thursday 21 September on Pen Y-Wal Road, Pontypridd has been named as 92-year-old John Symmonds from Graigwen, Pontypridd.

The daughters of John Symmonds have paid the following tribute:

“Our Dad will be greatly missed by us both and all the family,  as well as the many friends he made throughout his journey in life.

We are so grateful for all the support and find comfort in all the kind words we have received.

We would like to thank all the emergency services that tried to help Dad at the scene of the collision but would especially like to thank the staff on Ward 8 at Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr for the care and compassion they provided.

We do now ask that people respect our privacy and allow us the time and space to grieve. We will be announcing dates/time for the funeral in due course, once it is known.

    Goodnight Dad. Rest in peace.”

South Wales Police are still appealing to witnesses to the collision and anyone who has information is asked to contact South Wales Police quoting reference 2300320217.
