Several streets in Pontypridd Town Centre will be closed to traffic on two consecutive Sundays due to work at the former bingo hall site – starting this weekend.

The first closure will be in place from 8am to 6pm on Sunday, November 19, and will then be repeated on Sunday, November 26.

Contractor Prichard’s will install a drainage connection across the carriageway, as part of the ongoing preparatory works at the former bingo hall site, ahead of its redevelopment.

The closure will include Taff Street (from its junction with Church Street, heading south), the entire length of High Street (from Taff Street to A4058 Sardis Road), Mill Street (between numbers 1 and 11a) and Market Street (from its junction with Church Street to its southern junction with Taff Street).

An alternative route for motorists is via Crossbrook Street, Gelliwastad Road, Catherine Street and A4058 Sardis Road.

Please note that vehicles will be able to proceed from the northern end of Taff Street onto Market Street and then Church Street, joining the alternative route at Catherine Street.

Please see a map of the closure on the Council’s website, here.

Access for emergency services and pedestrians will be maintained. Access to premises will be maintained up to the northern Taff Street/Market Street junction.

Cyclists should dismount and walk through the road closure area.

No local bus services will be affected by these Sunday closures.
