Businesses in Powys are being urged by the county council to make the most of the range of opportunities that will be available to them when the county hosts one of Europe’s biggest youth festivals later this year.

Excitement is building in communities across Powys for the Maldwyn 2024 Urdd Eisteddfod, which is being held on the fields of Mathrafal Farm by Meifod between 27 May and 1 June.

Powys County Council is looking forward to working with the Urdd, the local organising committee, local communities, businesses and volunteers to make the most of the range of opportunities that hosting the Eisteddfod in Powys will bring to the county.

The council is supporting the Urdd Eisteddfod in providing information about accommodation available in north Powys for the thousands of visitors to the Urdd every year, which includes competitors and their families, trade stands holders, organisers and media.

If you have an accommodation business in north or mid Powys and would like to be included on the Urdd Eisteddfod accommodation list for the 2024 Maldwyn Eisteddfod, then email [email protected] with your contact information, location and accommodation type.

The Maldwyn 2024 Urdd Eisteddfod have also organised a Business Breakfast on Friday, February 9 at the Royal Oak in Welshpool so local businesses can hear about the opportunities at this year’s festival.  To register your interest email [email protected]

Cllr David Selby, Cabinet Member for a More Prosperous Powys, said: “The Urdd Eisteddfod was last held in Montgomeryshire in 1988 and a sense of excitement is growing as preparations continue for what we are sure will be a fantastic event later this year.

“The Maldwyn 2024 Urdd Eisteddfod will provide plenty of opportunities for local businesses as thousands of visitors are expected to visit this year’s event. I would urge accommodation businesses to include themselves on the accommodation list and local businesses to attend the Business Breakfast that is taking place in Welshpool in February.”
