Two Tenby charities have received donations from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation after being nominated by colleagues from the branch on Church Street.

The James Criddle Foundation and Pothmawr Surf Life Saving Club each received a £1,000 donation to help them support the community in the Tenby and Pembrokeshire area.

The James Criddle Foundation was established in 2022 in memory of James who sadly died in a motorcycling accident in Bali where he was working on a project supporting vulnerable people. The foundation was set up to help those most vulnerable in society, especially the homeless and underprivileged and those who suffer from mental health difficulties caused by living on the streets. The charity was nominated by Lucy Keane, a customer consultant at the Tenby branch.

PorthMawr Surf Lifesaving Club also received a £1,000 donation. The charity teaches people how to save lives at sea and teaches ocean skills training.

Lucy Keane of Yorkshire Building Society in Tenby, said: “We are proud to be able to support The James Criddle Foundation and PorthMawr Surf Lifesaving Club with these donations from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation. Each charity benefits our community in such different ways and touches the lives of so many people.”

Rachael Thomas, James’ mother and trustee of the James Criddle Foundation said: “This donation will help us tremendously. It’s given us a real boost. Thank you to Yorkshire Building Society in Tenby for putting us forward. This means so, so much to us as a family. I know James would be so grateful for your input.”

Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is funded through the Small Change Big Difference® scheme where members donate the pennies from the interest on their accounts just once a year to help smaller charities around the UK.

Last year the Foundation donated over £283,000 to local causes and charities nominated by members and colleagues from around the UK.
