Work will soon restart at Swansea’s Copr Bay development with a target to open the new multi-storey car park by the end of the year.
Swansea Council has appointed locally based Andrew Scott Ltd to carry out the works.
Their appointment follows Willmott Dixon undertaking detailed site surveys to establish the scope of the finishing works needed after the council’s original contractor for the scheme – Buckingham Group Ltd – went into administration.
Andrew Scott Ltd will soon be on site to start the works which are needed to finish the new car park and retail units on the city centre side of Oystermouth Road.
The financial arrangements put in place by the council means it’s not envisaged there will be any extra costs to the authority or council taxpayers.

Cllr Rob Stewart, Swansea Council Leader, said: “The council acted quickly following Buckingham Group going into administration to protect our position and appoint Willmott Dixon to establish the scale and scope of the works needed on site to complete the Copr Bay development.
“We’d like to thank Willmott Dixon for their guidance and survey work, which will now inform the work that Andrew Scott Ltd will be carrying out.
“The completion of the car park, retail units  and other finishing works will follow-on from a project that’s already delivered Swansea Arena, the coastal park, the car park under the arena and the new bridge over Oystermouth Road.
“These facilities have already benefitted hundreds of thousands of local people and visitors to the city.”
Between its opening in March 2022 and the end of last year, figures show over 350,000 people visited Swansea Arena to attend ticketed events as well as conferences, exhibitions, creative learning events and university graduation ceremonies.
Some of the performers to have taken to the stage at the arena include Johnny Depp with the Hollywood Vampires, Michael McIntyre, Royal Blood, the Jersey Boys and Katherine Jenkins.
In the coming months, acts including Gladys Knight, Katherine Ryan, Status Quo and The Cult will be performing there.
