Two men – one from Neath Port Talbot and one from Swansea – have been jailed following domestic violence offences.
36-year-old Nathan Jones, from Aberdulais, attacked his victim (whom he only met for the first time in December 2023) while they were asleep.
The victim was able to escape and gain the attention of a neighbour, asking them to contact the police. The neighbour banged hard on the door of the address, finally bringing Jones’s assault to an end.
Jones has been sentenced to 19 months in prison.
Sergeant Hannah Campbell-Todd said:
“Thanks to the bravery of the victim, a dangerous, violent offender is now behind bars.
“As the victim has said, it is awful to think how much more violence Nathan Jones would have carried out were it not for the intervention of a neighbour.”
In an unrelated case, 25-year-old Rhys Parry-Watts, from Gowerton, has been jailed for multiple domestic violence offences.
In November 2023, Parry-Watts was physically violent with his victim before throwing an item of furniture which struck them.
He assaulted the victim again, this time more seriously in February 2024. He gained entry to the victim’s property, before becoming aggressive when the victim asked him to leave. He then took the victim’s phone, pushed them onto the floor, and then carried out a sustained assault.
Rhys Parry-Watts has been sentenced to 20 months in prison for battery, ABH, and suffocation.
Sergeant Kelly Richards said:
“Rhys Parry-Watts is a violent and dangerous individual who carried multiple attacks on his victim.
“His violence was escalating over time, so it is fantastic news that he is no longer able to pose a danger to others.”
