Cardiff Airport reveals ‘low-cost alternative’ summer destination with £1.50 pints

Summer’s here and it’s that time of year when we think about booking a holiday to sunnier shores, perhaps a quick week away or the annual family holiday.

This year, it could be worth looking for somewhere different. Somewhere with glorious weather, where temperatures are forecast between 25 and 30°C, with beautiful sandy beaches, quality hotels and low local prices.

Congratulations, you’ve discovered Bulgaria! It’s the destination everyone’s talking about this year. The weather’s great, with the country bordering Greece and Turkey.

Add those wonderful sandy beaches and you’ve got a winner! It’s the amount of money you can save that’s making Bulgaria a great holiday choice.

Balkan Holidays operate direct flights from Cardiff Wales Airport and have some great value holidays available for travel in the next few weeks. Prices start from just £235*.

This includes return flights, luggage allowance, hotel accommodation and transfers.

There’s plenty of hotels from 2 to 5 star. Then, once you’re on holiday, the savings keep on coming.

Bulgaria has low local prices and you can buy a delicious three course meal in a local restaurant for about £15, bottle of local wine costs under £5 and local beer around £1.50.

There’s also lots to do, with two aqua parks in the main resort, Sunny Beach, water sports and there’s even a Llama park! If you want to take in the local history, then catch a boat across the bay to Nessebar – a beautiful town that’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you’re looking for a great value beach holiday, Bulgaria could well be
    the answer.

Chris Rand, Marketing Manager at Balkan Holidays, said: “We have some great value holidays to Bulgaria on our flights from Cardiff this summer, especially during June and early July. The weather out there is fabulous right now so Bulgaria really is a great choice for a late break this summer.”

Lee Smith, Head of Business Development at Cardiff Wales Airport, said: “Balkan has great holiday deals for our customers this summer, offering great value for money. This is giving people in Wales and the south west of England more choice to discover beautiful Bulgaria. This year, we are celebrating 45 years of Balkan’s highly popular flights from Wales. We are very proud of this and look forward to another great summer.”

*Price correct as of Wednesday 12 June. Price can change without notice.
