Popham Kidney Support, the Swansea-based kidney charity, has announced the date for its marquee fundraising event of 2024: the Popham Annual Awards Dinner. This anticipated event will be held on Friday, September 13, at Morgans Hotel in Swansea.

Following the success of last year’s fundraiser, Popham Kidney Support is calling on businesses to support this year’s Annual Awards Dinner, with the goal of raising substantial funds for children facing kidney disease.

Hosted by TV presenter and Popham Kidney Support Ambassador Sian Lloyd, the evening will feature five awards to honour the contributions of supporters, volunteers, and kidney patients to Popham Kidney Support.

Over 80 guests are expected to attend, including volunteers, healthcare professionals, and business supporters who have been with the charity since its beginning in March 2013.

Last year’s event raised £5,000, and this year, Popham Kidney Support is determined to exceed that amount. The proceeds will continue to benefit the Children’s Kidney Centre at University Hospital Wales, enhancing the vital care and support offered to patients and their families.

Popham Kidney Support is calling on businesses to get involved by sponsoring the event, booking a table, or purchasing tickets. This support will help raise crucial funds to improve the quality of life for children with kidney disease.

Popham Kidney Support was originally founded as ‘The Paul Popham Fund, Renal Support Wales, in March 2013. The organisation was established six months after the passing of Paul Popham, father to the current CEO, Joanne Popham. Today, under Joanne Popham’s leadership, Popham Kidney Support continues to honour Paul Popham’s legacy and brave battle with kidney disease and kidney cancer, by providing support and raising awareness for those facing kidney-related challenges. Entering its eleventh year, the charity has grown significantly, offering help to over 3,000 people last year alone.

Joanne Popham, Popham Kidney Support CEO, said:

“We are immensely excited for the return of our Popham Annual Awards dinner. This event will help us raise funds for the Children’s Kidney Centre, supporting the exceptional care they provide to children with kidney disease and their loved ones, enabling them to lead better lives.

“This is your golden opportunity to be part of something truly amazing and make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. Tickets are still available – we can’t wait for you to join us!”
