Local housebuilder, Barratt Homes South Wales, has today (08 July) announced its plans to bring 70 energy efficient new-build homes and over 300 jobs to Cwmbran — with new development, Holly View.

Located in St Dials, the development will be built on the site of the former Gwent Police college — which was the first purpose-built police academy of its kind in the UK when it opened in July 1974.

Hundreds of trainee constables from across Wales were drilled there before its closure in 2005 — with a range of stylish three and four-bedroom homes now set to be built by Barratt Homes, in its place.

Holly View is set to suit a range of buyers, too — including first time buyers, growing families, and working professionals — with a range of different home styles and on-site facilities, including two children’s play areas.

Its central location means residents will benefit from being just minutes from Cwmbran Shopping Centre, whilst also enjoying 3.4 acres of green open space — complete with over 7,500 new trees, shrubs and plants planted by Barratt. Scenic walking routes are just a stone’s throw away, too — including Cwmbran Boating Lake.

What’s more, Holly View will also offer commuters the best of both worlds — with direct links to Cardiff and Newport, plus the option of home working, with many of the homes boasting spaces perfect for transforming into your dream home office.

Richard Lawson, Sales Director for Barratt Homes South Wales, said: “Having successfully sold-out our nearby Hanbury Locks development, we’re looking forward to providing even more forever homes in Cwmbran — 13 of which will be affordable units.

“Holly View’s location makes it the perfect spot for those looking to make the most of South Wales’ stunning scenery — whilst also providing easy access to faster-paced towns and cities, nearby.”

There are a number of schemes available for those looking to make a move, including the developer’s Key Worker Deposit Contribution — whereby a variety of key workers, such as police force, fire service, prison service, education and NHS employees, can receive £1,000 for every £20,000 spent on the purchase price of a new home.
