Terra Mare set to bring authentic italian dining to Cardiff

A&M Hospitality Group – the same creative force behind popular Roath restaurant Silures – is set to unveil a brand-new dining experience in Cardiff this autumn.

Terra Mare, translating to ‘Land & Sea’ in Italian, will bring the rich culinary traditions of Puglia, Southern Italy, to the heart of the Welsh capital.

Taking over the site of the former Libertine cocktail bar on High Street, just a stone’s throw from Cardiff Castle, the new restaurant will comfortably accommodate 50 diners inside, with an additional 25 covers available on the outdoor terrace – providing a perfect setting for enjoying Cardiff’s early autumn ambiance. The interior is being designed by local independent agency Studio Severn and will draw on Mediterranean influences with a luxury touch.

Terra Mare’s menu will be inspired by the vibrant flavours and time-honoured techniques of Puglia and will be structured around the traditional Italian way of eating. Guests can take time to begin with cicchetti (small snacks), progressing through antipasti (appetizers), primi piatti (first course), and secondi piatti (main course), before concluding with dolce (desserts).

The flexible menu will allow diners to expand or contract their dining experience as desired – from choosing just a couple of plates – to indulging in a full seven courses.

A highlight of the menu will be the freshly made pasta, a signature element of the ‘primi piatti’ offerings at Terra Mare. Each day, two kinds of pasta will be crafted in-house under the expert guidance of Chef Francesco Germinario, whose family roots trace back to Puglia. With a culinary journey that began in his grandmother’s kitchen (where he learned to perfect her signature focaccia) and continued through Michelin-starred kitchens in London, Chef Franco will bring both authenticity and innovation to the restaurant’s kitchen.

In addition to the food offering, Terra Mare will feature an extensive drinks menu; the wine list will showcase a variety of Italian wines, complemented by Champagne and Prosecco by the glass, and a bespoke cocktail menu curated to enhance the dining experience.

    Andrei & Daf of A&M

“We are thrilled to be bringing the spirit of Puglia to Cardiff,” said Daf Andrews, Co-Founder of A&M Hospitality Group. “Terra Mare will be a celebration of the Italian way of life—of taking the time to savour each moment, each bite, and each sip. We look forward to welcoming our guests to share in this experience this Autumn.”

Terra Mare is set to open its doors in early autumn.
