Swansea chartered accountants Fergusons & Peters have received further support from Tata Steel subsidiary UKSE as the practice continues to grow and develop.
In 2017 Fergusons of Gorseinon acquired Pontardawe practice Peters & Co in a six-figure deal supported by UKSE and other investors.  Now UKSE has provided a further £50,000 loan to help the firm expand its range of services working to help local companies create jobs for the community.
Director Tracey Jones explained the strategy behind the investment. “We have reached a size where the senior team at the firm will be offering an advisory service to help business owners set, and achieve, their objectives.
“We can bring the knowledge and collective experience we have gained over the years across a range of sectors to bear, in terms of advice to business owners, helping them to take a considered view of their aims and set a path to achieving them.”
The firm plans to take on three extra staff in the next three years bolstering the compliance team and freeing up senior management.
In an ever-more complex business world, companies expect accountants to be business advisors as well as ensuring they are fully compliant, she added. “We will be showing how to use the latest technology such as AI to inform business planning and get a clear picture of where they are heading.”
“We will also help clients to link with agencies that are able to help them and to build their networks, which can be beneficial in all sorts of ways.”
Fellow-Director Dean Beniamous said ongoing support from UKSE had been vital. “The new funding from UKSE will be used to strengthen the compliance team and free up time for the Directors to work closely with clients on their growth strategies,” he said.
“We appreciate their backing and confidence in us over the years and their willingness to help with our growth plans.”
Michelle Noble UKSE Regional Executive said she was delighted to provide continued support. “At UKSE we work to support the local economy by making strategic investments in businesses and organisations that will create lasting jobs and prosperity.
“A firm such as Fergusons & Peters plays a huge role in the locality, creating skilled professional jobs within the practice itself, and by helping its clients to scale-up, and in turn generate employment. We wish them every success in this chapter of their development.”
