Transport for Wales (TfW) ffeibr has linked South Wales directly into one of Europe’s largest data centre campuses, strengthening Wales’ digital economy.
The connection links Cloud Centres and Vantage Data Centres in South Wales, creating a high speed route that gives local businesses fast, reliable connectivity for cloud services, AI workloads and other modern digital applications typically found only in the UK’s largest metropolitan hubs.
It’s the latest step in ffeibr’s journey since launching in November 2024. Cloud Centres Networks was ffeibr’s first commercial contract, connected in partnership with Cardiff University in 2025. Having since extended its network into the heart of the city, ffeibr has now linked that same facility directly to Vantage, deepening ffeibr’s presence across South Wales’ data centre corridor.
The full-fibre network is built in parallel with the electrification of the Welsh Core Valley Train Lines, offering robust connectivity to some of the hardest-to-reach places in Wales.

Crucially, it’s a model that keeps value within Wales – reinvesting in our communities and helping us build a more resilient, inclusive and self reliant economy.”
