The boss of the Welsh rugby’s governing body shared his management insights with business people from across Pembrokeshire at the Four Seasons Business Lunch on Thursday, 29th March.

Welsh Rugby Union Chief Executive, Martyn Philips, joined the gathering at the Wolfscastle Country Hotel, Haverfordwest as guest speaker.

Martyn was appointed WRU Group Chief Executive in 2015 and he is also a Director of British Lions and Celtic Rugby, and a member of the Council of the Six Nations.

During his tenure with the WRU he has put in place the Welsh Rugby Union Strategy and has championed its ‘More People, More Often, with More Enjoyment and More Success’ clarion call.

Attendees to the event were treated to Martyn’s insights and stories of life at the top of WRU and they also heard about his time as CEO of the home improvement giant B&Q.

Simon Lawrence, Branch Director for Thomas Carroll said: “This most recent Pembrokeshire Four Seasons Lunch was fascinating, giving attendees a real insight into the fast-paced and high pressure world of the Welsh Rugby Union.

“Clearly, the game of rugby is nothing short of a religion here in Wales, but it is interesting to hear about that world from a management perspective and to hear about the intricacies of developing its all-important strategy, which I know gave many of our management attendees food for thought. I am grateful to Martyn for being such a lively guest speaker.”

The Pembrokeshire Four Seasons Business Lunch is organised and sponsored by JCP Solicitors, Thomas Carroll, Ashmole and Co and the Development Bank of Wales and the events are open to all those working in Pembrokeshire.
