A Carmarthenshire man has been jailed after being convicted of child sex offences.

45-year-old Alexander Wilson, from Llanelli, was charged with two counts of rape of a child under 13 and one count of cause/incite a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity.

Wilson’s offending was identified when his victim texted a ‘safe word’ to their mother to signify that they felt that they were in danger.

This week he has been handed a 20-year extended sentence, comprising 17 years in custody and three years on extended license.

He will serve a minimum of two-thirds of his sentence in custody.

    Detective Constable Chris Medlicott said:

“Alexander Wilson is a dangerous child sex predator who disgustingly took advantage of a child in his care.

“Thankfully, his victim’s traumatic ordeal is now over – but the damage caused to them by Alexander Wilson’s offending will be incalculable.

“He will now, rightly, be sent to prison.”
