The Caerphilly Leisure and Wellbeing Hub project has reached a key milestone as Phase Two enabling works began on Monday 13th January. These works focus on advanced site preparation, including groundwork, utility connections, drainage systems, and infrastructure improvements, ensuring the site is fully prepared for the construction phase of this state-of-the-art facility. Once complete, the hub will provide a modern, inclusive space to support health, fitness, and wellbeing for residents across the county borough.
The project has received £20 million in funding from the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund, which was created to provide investment in infrastructure projects that improve everyday life and support economic growth in communities across the UK. This funding forms a significant contribution towards making this transformative project a reality.
The Leisure and Wellbeing Hub is a key part of Caerphilly County Borough’s Sports and Active Recreation Strategy, which is focused on modernising and enhancing leisure facilities to encourage healthier and more active lifestyles. Councillor Chris Morgan, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said:
“The start of Phase Two enabling works is an exciting step forward for the Caerphilly Leisure and Wellbeing Hub. This project highlights our commitment to delivering first-class facilities for our residents, improving opportunities for health and wellbeing, and boosting the local economy. The Levelling Up Fund has played a vital role in bringing this project closer to reality, and we are eager to see its impact on our community.”
