A former Chaplain at a Llandudno school has today been sentenced for making indecent images of children.
Samuel Erlandson, 36, of High Street, Ruabon, admitted three charges including two counts of making indecent images of a child and possession of an extreme pornographic image.
Appearing at Llandudno Magistrates Court yesterday (Monday, January 27th), Erlandson was sentenced to 32 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months.
He was ordered to register with the police as a sex offender for 10 years and was made the subject of a ten-year sexual harm prevention order.
He must also carry out 160 hours unpaid work and pay £272 in costs.
Speaking after sentencing, investigating officer Detective Constable Matthew Hoyle said: “The offences committed by Erlandson, who held a position of trust at the school he taught, within the Church of Wales and the community, are deeply concerning.
“His actions have understandably caused distress to many, who once trusted and respected him.
“Thankfully, he can no longer work with children which will prevent any further harm.
“The creation and distribution of indecent images of children causes immeasurable harm to victims and their families and we are committed to bringing to justice anyone who commits sexual offences, whether in person or online.”
