Major emergency works for the culvert on Troed-yr-Rhiw Road, Mountain Ash, will begin on 3rd February and take place over 8 weeks. The work will be completed over two phases, taking approximately 4 weeks each.

The culvert at Troed-yr-Rhiw Road was significantly damaged as a result of Storm Bert. While urgent repairs were undertaken at the time so the culvert could continue to operate after Strom Bert and the road reopen, further emergency works can now begin to not just repair the culvert, but to increase its capacity and improve its resilience during severe weather events.

The first phase of the work will take place on Troed yr Rhiw Road between the junction of The Poplars and Rowan Close/Bron-y-Deri.

During this time, a lane closure will be in place on Troed yr Rhiw road between the junction of The Poplars and Rowan Close/Bron-y-Deri. Vehicles will only be permitted to travel southbound (towards New Road), with temporary traffic lights in place on Troed yr Rhiw Road and Bron-y-Deri to safely facilitate the works.

The second phase of the work will take place further south on Troed yr Rhiw Road, between the junction of Rowan Close/Bron-y-Deri and New Road (A4059).

During this time, no vehicles will be able access Troed yr Rhiw Road from the New Road junction. Only vehicles travelling southbound (exiting Troed yr Rhiw Road) will be permitted to use this section of the road.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place on Troed yr Rhiw Road between the junction of The Poplars and Rowan Close/Bron-y-Deri and on Bron-y-Deri to safely facilitate the works.

Vehicles wishing at access Troed yr Rhiw road from New Road will need to follow the diversion via Duffryn Road, Jeffrey Street & Navigation Street.
