A man who burgled a couple’s home whilst they were on holiday has been jailed.

Mark Anthony Goodier, 36, of Llanddaniel, Gaerwen, appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court on Tuesday March 18th after admitting to two burglary offences and handling stolen goods.

During the evening of Thursday December 19th 2024, Goodier broke into a home on Station Road, Llanberis, whilst the family who lived there were away on holiday.

He ransacked the house, stealing several valuable items and the family’s car.

Later on, during the early hours of Friday December 20th, Goodier then attempted to gain entry into a business premises on Market Street by damaging the alarm system and door glass panel. Nothing was stolen.

Goodier was jailed for two years and five months.

He also received a restraining order protecting the victims lasting 10 years.

Detective Constable Will-Leon Portillo said: “This was an extremely violating experience for the victims whose home was ransacked whilst they were away on holiday.

“This incident has significantly impacted them and left them feeling unsafe in their own home as well as having lost a number of items of sentimental value.

“No sentence can undo the harm of Goodier’s actions but I hope the public are reassured that we will continue to work tirelessly to protect the safety and security of our communities.”
