A new mental health hospital is set to open in Rhyl in April 2025 with support from HSBC UK.

Ty Melyn Limited has secured an eight-figure funding package from HSBC UK to purchase a site in Rhyl, Wales, which will become the new Seren Gobaith Mental Health Hospital.

Located on Brighton Road in Rhyl, the new hospital will provide 24-hour support, operating across five-wards, it will provide 62 beds for patients with en-suite facilities in every room. The new facility will create 250 new jobs for hospital workers and medical professionals.

The privately-run hospital hopes to work closely with the community, using local suppliers and working with local charities. The new site will also enable Welsh patients to receive treatment closer to home, benefitting local residents who previously had to travel to England to receive inpatient care.

Seren Gobaith will join Ty Melyn Limited’s portfolio of healthcare facilities, bringing the total to five operational sites across Wales.

Nadarajah Pragashparan, Director at Ty Melyn Limited said: “We’re pleased to have received the funding from HSBC UK, which will enhance our commitment to providing care in Wales and supporting local charities. As part of the opening the hospital has supported 50 meals prepared and stored for distribution across north Wales to shelters for homeless veterans by the charity Change Step. Alongside this, the Seren Gobaith has worked with The Poppy Factory, which supports veterans getting into employment.

The hospital will be the largest of its kind in Wales, offering exceptional mental healthcare for the region with facilities designed to support all patients.”

James Le Maire, Corporate Director, at HSBC UK, added: “It has been a great privilege to have been able to support Ty Melyn Limited in the development of a new hospital providing essential support and bringing in 250 jobs to the area. The hospital will offer much-needed mental health services, for those in North Wales who previously had not been able to receive care close to home and will overall bring huge benefit to those in the local area.”

Seren Gobaith joins other care facilities in Wales which primarily serve the elderly and individuals with dementia, operated by Nadarajah Pragashparan.
