Swansea Beach is gearing up to welcome thousands of music enthusiasts as the highly anticipated ‘Tunes on the Bay’ festival kicks off today, Friday 2 May, and runs through Sunday 4 May. This three-day event promises a vibrant mix of live performances, featuring both renowned artists and local talent.

    Star-Studded Line-Up

The festival boasts an impressive roster of performers:

    • Friday, 2 May: Headliners McFly will take the stage, joined by Scouting for Girls, The Cuban Brothers, Symphonic Ibiza Beach Orchestra, Ellie Sax, Who’s Molly?, and a tribute performance by Dean Jones as Tom Jones.

    • Saturday, 3 May: Supergrass leads the day’s acts, with performances by Jake Bugg, Feeder, Mathew Horne (DJ set), Doritos Mariachis, Smooth Operator, Bjorn Belief (ABBA tribute), and DMF x Ed Kurno.

    • Sunday, 4 May: The festival concludes with sets from Prospa, SOSA Rossi, Wheats, Murphy’s Law, Job de Jong, Lucas Alexander, and Evie.

In addition to the main stage, a second stage will feature tribute acts such as The Queen Experience, Live Forever (Oasis tribute), Swiftly Taylor (Taylor Swift tribute), and Harry Styles Show, among others.

    Event Logistics and Safety Measures

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all attendees, Swansea Council has announced specific road closures. Oystermouth Road will remain open throughout the weekend, except for a limited closure between the Slip Bridge abutments and Brynmill Lane from 10:45 PM to approximately 11:30 PM each night to facilitate safe egress for festival-goers.

Litter crews will be active throughout the event to maintain cleanliness on the beach.

    Travel and Parking Information

Attendees are advised to plan their journeys in advance:

    • Parking: Event parking is available at the Recreation Ground (SA2 0AU) for £10 per car per day. The car park surface is gravel, with overflow areas on grass. There is an approximate 800m walk to the concert entrance.

    • Drop-off/Pick-up: The designated area is at Brangwyn Hall (SA1 3UR).

    • Public Transport: Bus stops are located on Mumbles Road; however, attendees should check with their bus providers regarding pick-up locations during the Mumbles Road closure from 11:00 PM. The nearest train station is Swansea High Street, approximately 2 km away, with a taxi rank situated outside the station.

    Entry Guidelines and Prohibited Items

Festival-goers should be aware of the following:

    • Entry: Gates open at 12:00 PM, with the last entry at 7:00 PM. Once wristbands are collected, attendees can leave and re-enter the festival during open hours.

    • Prohibited Items: Items not permitted include excessive amounts of cigarettes, glass containers, alcohol, weapons, non-prescription drugs, professional photography or recording equipment, sound systems, fireworks, flares, gas canisters, BBQs, sparklers, explosives, flags, dogs (except guide/service dogs), bicycles, aerosols, and drones.

For a complete list of prohibited items and further event details, attendees are encouraged to visit the official festival website.

With a stellar line-up and comprehensive arrangements in place, ‘Tunes on the Bay’ is set to be a highlight in Swansea’s cultural calendar, offering a weekend of music and entertainment against the scenic backdrop of Swansea Beach.
