Rod Jones, former Senior Commercial Manager at uSwitch, has joined protection insurance broker and comparison website ActiveQuote as its Head of Partnerships.

Rod has a wealth of experience in the insurance comparison market, having spent more than five years at uSwitch, as well as being a former telematics and motor insurance manager at Gocompare.com.

Rod will head up the partnerships between ActiveQuote and the other major insurance aggregators, as well ashelp ActiveQuote.com to grow in its key markets of life, health and personal protection insurance. He will also act as a spokesperson for the brand – championing and educating the consumer about protection products and their benefits.

ActiveQuote’s Managing Director, Rob Saunders, explained:

“Rod joins the team at a time of continued growth for the business. As well as just kicking off our new partnership with MoneySuperMarket, we have some exciting and ambitious plans for the next 12 to 18 months centered around education, inspiration and innovation.

“Recent research found that 55% of people in the UK don’t have any protection insurance cover*,  having someone of Rod’s experience on board will help us reach more customers as we continue our journey to make it even easier for customers in the UK to buy health and protection insurance.”

Rod said on his new appointment: “I have watched ActiveQuote grow from an aspiring start-up to one of the leading comparison sites and brokers for protection products. The team at ActiveQuote is amongst the best in the business and I am excited for what the future holds for me and this business.

“With the growth of online non-advised insurance transactions, ActiveQuote has continued to offer free, impartial and unbiased advice to thousands of consumers each year.  ActiveQuote’s business principle of putting consumers’ needs first, allowing them access to insurance advice for what can be deemed as complex products, is another key reason I am delighted to be joining ActiveQuote team.”

Rod added: “It’s also a very interesting time for the protection industry – with the uncertainty around Brexit, it’s important that consumers consider protection products such as income protection to safeguard their futures. As an individual, you might be frustrated at not being able to control the deal/no-deal discussions, but at least you can do something to protect your own interests. I am a firm believer in these products and I’m looking forward to helping spread the message about the benefits of protection insurance.”
