If you drove past Gareth Evans in his black Vauxhall Mokka you would not think anything of it. But there was more than meets the eye to this 70 year-old man from Merthyr Tydfil, as officers found out when they stopped him.
A 70-year-old man from Merthyr Tydfil has been jailed for dealing heroin.

Gareth Evans, of North Street, Merthyr Tydfil, was driving his black Vauxhall Mokka through Abercanaid when he was stopped by officers from the organised crime team.

They searched the vehicle and found five wraps of heroin, cash and two phones, which were seized.

During a Section 18 search of his flat, officers found three fist-sized packages of heroin, enough for 700 separate street deals worth around £21,000.

He was charged and pleaded guilty to possessing heroin with intent to supply, possessing heroin, possessing class C drug Bromazolam, and acquiring criminal property, namely money.

Gareth Evans appeared to be sentenced at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Thursday, June 19, when he was jailed for 45 months.
